We flew out to Australia from Kuala Lumpur early in December and once again stopped over in KL for some last minute shopping. The skipper was able to buy a lovely “genuine original copy” Rolex watch only to have it whipped off his wrist in Australia by a mate who fell in love with it on sight. Enjoy Lee, we will buy another one. The flight was again, smooth and fairly comfortable arriving at 10 minutes past midnight. Thank you to one long-suffering daughter who managed to stay awake long enough to pick us up from the airport yet again.
It was nice to arrive early in the month and so have a bit of a build-up to the Christmas festivities this time – of course you know that means lots of food and drink before, during AND after Christmas. And so we dust the car off and hit the road……. travelling between Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide we see all the children and grandchildren and most of our friends in the all too short a time in each State. The weather was great and some of us (crew) were brave enough to have a swim in the COLD waters of Sydney Harbour. Brrrrr !
We were lucky enough to have 3 Christmas dinners this year – one in Danga Bay with cruisers before we left and two in Australia. YUM. To digress – why won’t this button do up on my pants? Shrunk in the wash no doubt. Cough cough cough. It was wonderful this year to have 6 out of our 7 children together for a BBQ dinner. If we are altogether (children, grandchildren, partners) at once – we number 25. Rent-a-crowd. Love ‘em to bits.
On return to Malaysia, we stole a night with our nephew and his partner Angie who grew up in Kuala Lumpur and very much enjoyed seeing the JinJang district, tasting local fare and celebrating Chinese New Year with fireworks purchased from Angie’s ‘connections’. Thanks guys. Also we are happy to welcome Angie’s son Louis to our fold as he successfully applied for immigration to Australia.
Once back in Danga Bay it was time to join the marina’s 15th Birthday celebrations and so we dressed ship and hung flashing lights all around. We all looked very pretty for a week. The Prime Minister visited (it’s election time), the Sultan too and a Guinness Book record was attempted with 118 Chinese Dragons also in attendance.
And now we (meaning crew) is cleaning out lockers, decks, topsides etc while skipper services the engine, generators and outboards before we untie the ropes and head up the western Malaysia coast to Thailand.
Anyway, we hope you enjoy the slideshow of bits and pieces from the past months.
